When Hongdae has worn your legs out

Somewhere to sit that isn't a cafe

Hongdae is a lot of walking.
Shops, buskers, more shops.
One guide puts it well:
after hours of being
attacked by shops and street music(opens in a new tab),
greenery feels like medicine.

So people look for a place to stop.
The same guides point to the
Gyeongui Line Forest Park benches,
or a mall like AK Plaza on a rainy day —
somewhere to sit without having to buy anything(opens in a new tab).

A bench is fine for ten minutes.
But when your legs are actually done,
and it's hot or raining,
a bench doesn't reset anything.

An hour off your feet

The stronger version of "sit down for a bit"
is a room where you can put your legs up,
recline, and let a chair work the walking out —
then go back out and keep going.

Travellers use it exactly that way.

Such a great place to stop and rest during your trip! Take a nap and continue your journey feeling refreshed.

Stop, nap, continue.
That's the whole shape of it.

It's perfect when you want to relax or have a healing date. I came to shake off post-trip fatigue and left feeling totally pampered!

How it works, briefly

sheem's Hongdae branch is by
Hongik University Station, exit 9,
about 100 metres on.
It's nine private rooms,
each with a reclining massage chair
and a screen.
Book online, walk in with a code —
it's unstaffed and open 24 hours.

The one-person rooms start at
₩10,800 an hour on weekdays,
and you can book from 30 minutes,
so a short reset doesn't cost much.
Prices are on the booking screen;
checked 2026-07-24.

I came to Seoul on a trip and needed somewhere to rest — I was able to rest well here.

Pick the quiet room if you'll nap

One thing worth knowing.
Premium rooms (Room 1–4) are sealed to the ceiling.
Standard rooms (Room 5–9) are open at the top,
so sound carries.
For a proper doze, take a Premium room;
for a quick sit-down, a Standard is cheaper.

The free kit has an eye mask,
a head cover and slippers.
Each room sets its own temperature,
and there's Wi-Fi.

If you're not sure what the room even is,
start with
it's a massage chair, not a masseuse.
